“Thank you guys so much. In 2014, this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically, 100% honest with all of you. I think it’s safe to say most of you know a lot of my life – whether I liked it or not. And…I had to stop. Cause I had everything, and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.
I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram, I want to see what’s in here [gestures to heart]. I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say from the bottom of my heart is I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every single day with people that I love. And I have to say thank you so much to my fans because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But, if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. And if that’s anything, whether you respect me or not, that’s one thing you should know about me. I care about people…and thank you so much for this, this is for you. Thank you.”
Selena Gomez is smiling again. The 24-year-old was spotted taking a cigarette break from a rehab centre in Tennessee – where’s been getting help for depression and anxiety. She stepped out of the facility in a grey hoodie with black jeans on Thursday (October 13) and had a bandage visible on her left hand.
A short time after Us Weekly’s report was shared, the second round of post-announcement photos surfaced, via Radar Online. In the photos, Selena Gomez was seen near her chosen rehab facility in Tennessee on October 7.
According to an eyewitness, Selena Gomez was spotted during a group outing at an arcade, where she reportedly kept to herself as her fellow patients played a round of mini-golf. In one particular photo, Gomez looked to be ordering food from a food court at the venue. Head over to our gallery for photos.
Multiple sources confirm in the new issue of Us Weekly that the pop star, 24, has been recovering at a Tennessee treatment facility since announcing August 30 that she was taking a break to manage “anxiety, panic attacks and depression.” The “Kill Em With Kindness” singer canceled 34 remaining dates on her Revival world tour as a result.
“Selena is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health,” a source close to the pop star tells Us. “She can go to a very dark place.” The insider describes the facility, just outside of Nashville, as a “private and quiet place,” but “super intense.”
The Disney Channel alum — who went to rehab in 2014, one year after being diagnosed with the chronic autoimmune disease — also stopped working on new music. “She was supposed to be recording, but she hasn’t told anyone when she’ll be back in studio,” a music industry source explains.
While focusing on her recovery, Gomez has been spending time with family. She stopped at Alcoa, Tennessee’s Texas Roadhouse for dinner with her mom and stepfather, Brian Teefey, October 8. “Selena was just like any other guest,” the casual steakhouse’s manager tells Us. “She was really nice and tipped well.”
The next day, the Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising actress and her grandparents had breakfast at the Riverstone Restaurant in Townsend, Tennessee. “She was laughing a lot with them while she was eating,” says an eyewitness, who observed Gomez enjoying grits and chatting with fans. “She seemed happy and relaxed.”
The selfies continued on Sunday as additional Tennessee fans were lucky enough to encounter the pop star. “She seemed really well!” an eyewitness said of spotting Gomez on Sunday, October 9.
“I told her I hoped she was doing well and having a good break and that I was proud of her for taking time for herself. She was so appreciative and we talked for a while! She was at a restaurant with her family and she said she appreciated my words.”
Selena Gomez has resurfaced in Tennessee amid her personal break from the Hollywood spotlight.
Multiple eyewitnesses confirm to E! News that the “Come and Get It” singer stopped by the Texas Roadhouse in Alcoa, Tennessee Saturday for an afternoon meal.
“She enjoyed herself and was there for a late lunch,” an eyewitness shared with E! News. “She couldn’t have been more gracious to everyone and to the fans and was more than happy to take pictures with whoever.”
The sighting was so exciting to fans that #SelenaIsBackParty began to trend on Twitter for a short period on Saturday.
As many followers know, Selena announced in August that she would be taking some time off away from the spotlight. At the same time, the actress hoped to focus on her heath and the unfortunate side effects of her lupus diagnosis.
“Around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” she shared in a statement to E! News. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”
She continued, “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off.”
Since the announcement, Selena has not made any big appearances on red carpets or star-studded events including the Global Citizen Festival. Furthermore, her last Instagram post was seven weeks ago. Ultimately, Selena assured fans this past summer that she appreciates their support as she shifts her priorities away from music and acting for the time being.
“Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best,” she shared. “I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
